Here are answers to commonly asked questions about Nest Store purchases, billing, sales tax, and more.
What payment methods can I use?
The Nest Store accepts most major credit cards such as Visa®, MasterCard®, Discover®, and American Express®. Prepaid credit cards and Visa Electron cards are not accepted. We can only accept credit cards issued by companies and with a billing address within the US or Canada. All credit card information you provide to our server is fully encrypted and secure.
When will my credit card be charged?
When you order a Nest product, we will authorize the purchase immediately, so you may see an authorization from Nest Labs appear in your bank statement. However, you won’t be charged until your order has shipped. If the product is in stock, orders will typically ship in 1–2 business days after being placed.
For Nest Aware subscription purchases, your credit card will be charged once your paid subscription begins. If the Nest Cam that you are purchasing a Nest Aware subscription for is currently on a Nest Aware free trial, your credit card won’t be charged until the free trial ends.
For all Nest orders, you will receive an order confirmation email from us shortly after you complete your purchase.
Will I be charged sales tax?
The Nest Store charges all applicable sales taxes as required by law.
For our Canadian customers, we collect the appropriate HST/GST/PST based on the delivery address of your order.
How do I claim a tax exemption?
If you qualify for a tax exemption or refund and have the applicable tax exemption certificate, please contact us.
Important: Any request for a refund of tax charges will need to include the properly completed tax exemption document. The name of the exempt organization MUST be included in the Purchaser name for orders made on the Nest Store.
